About Me

My name is Heather Kolde, and I am a California girl that has spent the last 20 plus years moving around the country, currently living in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I am crazy about my family, faith, pups, and really good dark-chocolate sea-salt caramels. I love movies, while embracing the conviction that the book is always better. I love the outdoors, while maintaining the reality that indoor plumbing was an upgrade worth fighting for. I am a recovering perfectionist, theatrical, techno-geek, finisher. I am grateful for my life with all of its messes and imperfection, and I am always learning, growing, and seeking to help.

Professionally, I am an educator passionate about purposeful technological integration in the 21st century classroom. Empowering students to take ownership of their learning using the modern tools of technology and to see themselves as part of a world much larger than the one they have known is an awesome calling. I have taught kindergartners though college students, but have spent the bulk of my career with middle schoolers. I love the special kind of crazy they bring and the daily humor on which I can depend.

In recent years, I have spent increasing amounts of time mentoring other teachers in using technology and integrating technology in the classroom. I am also able to this as a professional learning specialist with NCCE. I am energized by coming alongside other teachers and helping to build their confidence and competence in technology integration. Having been a single computer classroom, a 1:1, and everything in between, I am hoping to bring my experience to this blog to encourage fellow teachers on the journey as we guide the next generation of leaders on theirs.
